Brandon Hackett is a Black and queer television writer, actor and comedian based in Toronto.

He has received three Canadian Screen Award nominations for his writing work on This Hour Has 22 Minutes (CBC) and The Beaverton (CTV).  His recent writing credits include the upcoming sitcom Shelved (CTV), Run the Burbs (CBC), Summer Memories (Family Channel), and TallBoyz (CBC). His pilot Burn it All Down is currently optioned with Pier 21 Films.

Brandon has appeared on the shows The Next Step (CBBC/CBC), Amelia Parker (BYUtv) and Shelved (CTV), and as a correspondent on The Beaverton. He has also lent his voice to the cartoons Gary and His Demons (VRV), Doomlands (Roku), Pinecone and Pony (Apple TV+) and Transformers: Bot Bots (Netflix). He will be starring in the upcoming movie Paige Darcy and the Case of the Stoned Cat.

Brandon is an alumnus of Toronto’s Second City Mainstage, where he co-wrote and performed in four revues, including the Canadian Comedy Award-nominated Party Today (Panic Tomorrow) and The Best is Yet to Come Undone.

In addition to his work at The Second City, he is a former cast member of the award-winning sketch collective The Sketchersons; he is the head writer of Canada’s first all-black sketch troupe Untitled Black Sketch Project; and he is one half of the duo Hackett & Langdon, who are currently recording a comedy album.

In 2015, he performed in Chicago at the NBCUniversal Second City Breakout Comedy Festival. In the same year, he was named one of the Toronto Star’s “Entertainment Rookies of the Year.”

Brandon is NOT the Hungarian science fiction author of such books as Erdöhold and Isten Gèpei.
